Hi Lily! I am a frequent "glamper" at Fort Wilderness resort at Walt Disney World. We have a large motor coach and we come and enjoy this location for several weeks at a time.
The Premium Campsites in the
Fort Wilderness Campground have long concrete pads that can accommodate RV's up to 45 feet long. The limit of guests on any camp site is 10 persons. You can certainly put up a tent on the same site as an RV as long as the guest limit does not exceed 10.
Since the premium campsites are all concrete please understand that many do not have any area where you might be able to stake in a tent. Be prepared for this if the vegetation around the one assigned to you is full and lush. The sites in loop 800 are great for tents as they are located in the woods more with pines and less underbrush. You can request a loop when making your reservation.
December is one of those months in Florida when the weather can change quickly. You might have a hot spell or a cold front might come through making the temperatures quite cold. Be sure and check a week or so out from your arrival to see the long range weather forecast so you can pack accordingly for those who might be staying in the tent.
It sounds like a great adventure for you and your family. You will really enjoy the campground and all the excitement around you. Be sure and visit
Chip and Dale's Campfire Singalong, the Disney stables, and
Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue. Also try some canoeing and fishing. Visit all the loops to see the great Christmas decorations too and don't forget to bring some yourself!
