Hi Lori! Before our kiddos were school age, September was one of our favorite months to visit Walt Disney World Resort. The weather and crowd levels are both great!
The weather averages a high of 89 degrees and a low of 74 degrees. You can count on seeing some rain but don't let that deter you. In fact, embrace it. During the rain, many Guests will head back to their Resort hotels. It's a great time to enjoy attractions with little to no wait time. (Of course, this is with exception to attractions where safety could be an issue. In which case, the attraction(s) will close temporarily if needed.) You may want to pack moisture wicking clothes or rain gear. We typically check the weather right before we head to the theme parks each morning and determine whether or not we will take rain gear with us that day.
The crowd levels have historically been light in September. You will see an increase on Friday afternoon through Sunday but it's still very manageable. On the weekend, we would typically arrive at theme park opening or take advantage of early Extra Magic Hours. Around 2:00 PM, we would head back to our Resort hotel and spend some time pool side. Later, we would enjoy a nice dinner and many times head back to a theme park. September is a GREAT time to visit Walt Disney World Resort and I know you will love every magical moment!
I'm so excited for you! As you are planning your vacation, be sure to add
Toy Story Land to your plans! It's opening June 30, 2018 and is going to be fun for kids of all ages! I cannot wait to experience Slinky Dog Dash for the 1st time!
Thanks so much for your question and please let me know if you need any further information as you plan your magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
