Hi, Wendy! Having experienced a 10-day trip to the Los Angeles area including Disneyland and California Adventure and having taken numerous trips of various lengths to the WDW Resort in Florida, I think I can help point you in the right direction. Although both locations are fabulous, they really are like comparing apples to oranges as far as vacation destinations.
The Disneyland Resort in California is where the magic began but is minuscule in comparison to the WDW Resort in Florida. In California, we spent a little over 3 days out of 10 visiting the two theme parks, and we felt that we had sufficiently experienced all that we wanted. The American West Coast is beautiful and has many varied opportunities for a family vacation.
On the other hand, WDW has 4 theme parks, 2 water parks, over 20 resort hotels and countless recreation, entertainment and dining options. I have been on dozens of vacations there and still have not experienced all there is to offer! The Orlando area is one of the most visited destinations in the world. Yet, WDW is the primary draw for all of Central Florida. The beautiful Florida beaches are 1-2 hours away, and Cape Canaveral -- home to Disney Cruise Lines -- is about an hour from WDW.
Therefore, I would suggest that you find out with your family what kind of vacation you would like to experience, and explore each of the websites --
Disney World and
Disneyland. Plus, you may want to order the
