We are planning a trip for Aug 24 - 30, 2014. Labor Day is Sept 1, 2014. I see that typically crowds are lower after Labor Day, but what about the wk before? Southern states normally start school in August, so I was hoping this might be a good week.

    Hi Carol,

Great question! Time of year is an important aspect of planning, and if there's flexibility in your travel plans it's best to truly research anticipated crowd levels. Over the past several years, I've heavily relied on the independent site touringplans.com to help me determine the best weeks to travel. The site utilizes historical data to predict future crowd levels, and in my experience, does so very well. Labor Day weekend will certainly see larger crowds, but because you intend to stay an entire week, you can tailor your plans to avoid the most crowded Parks on Saturday, Sunday or Monday. According to touringplans.com, the weekdays leading up to Labor Day are not expected to be too crowded this year. I think you've chosen a great week to travel.

I hope my answer was helpful, Carol, and please visit us again with additional planning questions.
