We are planning a trip in April for the Darkside Challenge and we are staying at the Polynesian. How do we get to the races? and when would you recommend leaving the resort?

    Hi Jason!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I'm so excited for you to run in the Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend- The Dark Side Challenge!

When you stay at any of the Walt Disney World Resort hotels, all race weekend transportation is provided! When you check in to Disney's Polynesian Village Resort ask the front desk where race transportation will be picking up from. In my experience, it's usually at the front of the resort near the spot where the Magical Express drops off and picks up, not where the regular theme park transportation is. This can change between hotels and race weekends though, so I'd double check! This will be the same location you are picked up for the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo.

While in the past it has not been available for the 10K distances, normally for the half marathon distance the monorail will be operating! I'd recommend walking from the Disney's Polynesian Village Resort to the Transportation and Ticket Center to take the monorail direct to Epcot. This will certainly be the fastest option the morning of the Star Wars Half Marathon- The Dark Side. For the Star Wars 10K, that starts at 5:30 AM, runDisney asks that participants board the bus no later than 4 AM. Bus transportation begins at 3:30 AM so I'd recommend planning for that to give yourself some more time.

For the Star Wars Half Marathon- The Dark Side, the monorail and bus transportation begins at 3 AM, with runDisney advising to board no later than 4:00 AM. If you take the monorail, I'd plan for 3:45 AM!

Quick Tip: Guests staying at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort have the option to order the Ohana buffet to their room, called the Twilight Feast. It's a great meal that you can relax and eat the night before!
