Planning trip with 8 adults, 2 kids. How do dining ressies work with a party of 10? I know auto gratuity, but will places accomadate a large group? Side by side tables perhaps? Havent made ressies yet, but curious on what to expect. Any tips? Thanks!

Hi Tarah! I have just completed making numerous dining reservations for our large party in October. Some restaurants will state that they cannot guarantee everyone will be at the same table. But I have found that this isn't the worst case scenario as when you have really large tables you have far less chance for good conversation with many of the group.  If you aren't at the same table the locations will attempt to have you sitting as close as possible to each other. You can make the request when checking in to be side by side but sometimes that request will mean you wait longer to be seated. I have found that things work out just fine when you leave it in the hands of the restaurants. Everyone is happy and fed and ready to play!

If you find you are often split up make name tags and draw names to be seated together at one table. It mixes things up so the same people are not always drifting together. Obviously if you have young children they will be placed with their parent.  We had fun doing this especially when we were a group of 16.
