Hi there, I am planning on travelling from Alberta, Canada, in August 2022. If I purchase the hotel stay and the park tickets, what is the refund policy if something such as border closures keep us from coming?

Hello Jill! Welcome to planDisney! I know making big plans for international trips can make you feel like you are spinning on Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind. Hopefully, I can ease some of those bouncing emotions so you can get back to planning!

While Disneyland Resort monitors current health and safety conditions with the safety of Guests and Cast Members in mind, sometimes plans still may need to be canceled or postponed, especially in your situation where there is uncertainty with border closures. While terms and conditions could change, currently the cancellation/refund policy is as follows:

-For a Disneyland vacation package, you can receive a full refund for cancellations before 30 days from your arrival date, minus any cancellation fees charged by third-party suppliers or any non-refundable travel protection plan costs. After that, there are fees depending on how close you are to your arrival date.

-For a room-only hotel reservation, you can cancel up to five days before your arrival date without penalty. After that, you will be charged a cancellation fee equivalent to the first night's room rate plus tax.

-For a separate theme park ticket purchase, unfortunately, there are no refunds given. However, you could cancel the theme park reservation and use them at a later date. If the tickets expire before you are able to use them, you can exchange them for a new ticket of equal or greater value if purchased directly through Disney.

Currently, dining reservations can be made 60 days out and can be canceled at least 24 hours before without penalty. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the reservation time are subject to a $10 fee per person will be charged to the card used to make the reservation.

Jill, I hope this information puts some worry at ease and lets you continue to go forward in planning your trip to The Happiest Place on Earth. Disneyland Resort has many exciting entertainment options returning in 2022, and we hope you will get to experience them. Please come back and visit us again if you have any other questions during your planning adventure. You've got a friend in us!
