I am planning on taking the European cruise that sails out of Barcelona May 31st. Is it better to exchange American dollars into Euros prior to arrival?

    Hi, Christine!

Thanks so much for stopping by the Moms Panel.  How exciting to hear about your upcoming plans to cruise Europe. You will absolutely love it, I'm sure.  Whenever we travel to a foreign country, we always bring a little bit of cash with us.  So, when we traveled to Barcelona a few years ago, we did in fact, have some Euros exchanged prior to arriving.  Not a lot, but enough to cover the estimated taxi fare, tips and enough cash for food/snacks on the 1st day of arrival.  We have successfully used ATM cards in the past for additional local currency - it has definitely become very convenient.  Barcelona is a pretty modern city, and there were lots of ATM's available that accepted our card... even one at our hotel.  Otherwise, we try to use a designated credit card and we try not to carry too much cash on us.

I would highly suggest doing a pre-night stay (or longer) before you embark on your cruise in Barcelona. This will allow you to get adjusted to the time difference, and most importantly, get to check out the beautiful sights and sounds of this vibrant town.  Get ready for an adventure - all your senses will be on hyper drive. Have a wonderful cruise!

Do come by again if you need additional information to help you plan your cruise. We are always happy to help!

Have an awesome cruise with Captain Mickey!
