I was planning on taking my boyfriend to Disneyland for his birthday. I was wondering if you are allowed to take wrapped presents past security and into the parks.

    Hello, Emily,

The Disneyland Resort is such an excellent choice for a birthday celebration. What a nice surprise he’ll be getting with your special presents. So that you don’t get an unexpected surprise at the security checkpoint, I recommend that you not carry in the gift already wrapped. Since all belongings are subject to search, you may wish to place your present in a gift bag. Or perhaps design your wrapping to allow the package to be easily opened for inspection and then resealable.

Here’s a tip for keeping your gift a surprise for your boyfriend. If there is a “no bag line” available at the security screening area, send him ahead through that line “to scope out a short line at the park entrance.” Then, you carry all your party’s bags through the regular screening line. That way, when security peeks inside the gift, the surprise won’t be spoiled for your boyfriend.

Have you had a chance to check off all of your “magical must-dos” this Summer? Even if you happen to have only one day, there’s a lot that you can experience if you take on the #DisneylandChallenge. Looking for something special? I recommend the Lamplight Lounge at Pixar Pier. I love the special ambience and the delicious drinks at this unique location.

Happy birthday to your boyfriend! And “a very merry un-birthday” to you, Emily!
