Hi! We're planning a surprise trip to Fort Wilderness for our family of 10 (4 adult children, 4 grandchildren, and the two of us). We already have our campsite booked, but I'm wondering what else I should do or know about now to make the most of our stay

  • Howdy Tracy!

Disney's Wilderness Lodge and The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort are truly spectacular. A few years ago, my parents met us with their RV and booked one of the campsites, so we spent plenty of time admiring the beautiful resort. Since then, it has become one of our favorite places to enjoy and explore.

There are seriously so many incredible activities, dining experiences and adventures awaiting your arrival at "the Fort." I could easily go on and on, but I am as excited as you are to see what great answers my fellow panelists share, so I'll just tell you a couple of our family favorites.

The Tri-Circle-D Ranch offers family fun for cowpokes of all ages. Horseback riding, pony rides, carriage rides or wagon rides are all available and tucked into the rustic and beautiful landscape. Here you can also see Cinderella's Ponies, or one of my favorite discoveries--the Dragon Calliope (a horse-drawn musical instrument purchased by Walt Disney in the 1950s.)

After an exciting day, one of our favorite ways to wind-down is Chip 'n' Dale's Campfire Sing-A-Long. The whole family (even the 10-year-old) enjoys singing along to cowboy songs, making s'mores and visiting with these nutty Disney friends. As night falls and the stars come out to shine, enjoy a Disney movie in the fresh evening air and reflect on your day together.

Have a wonderful vacation, Tracy! Please let us know if there is anything else we are able to assist you with.

    Magical Wishes,

    Lauren
