I am planning a surprise 50th birthday for my husband. We have family, unbeknownst to him, flying in from around the country and I was trying to come up special celebration at Walt Disney World. Any ideas other than the parks?

    Hi, Sandra!

What a wonderful surprise for your husband's big day!

There is a great post with tips on this very topic; just click on Celebrate Your Special Occasion for some ideas and have fun exploring! From customized cakes to complete in-room celebrations, you'll find lots of extra-magical ideas on that link.

We've dined with groups at many of Walt Disney World's fabulous restaurants, both in the parks and in resorts as well. Depending on the size of your party, you might want to consider getting a room at a restaurant so that you can have the space to yourselves.  For example, dinner at California Grill at Disney's Contemporary Resort could be arranged to finish up while Wishes Nighttime Spectacular begins. (What a view!)

You could also book a Specialty Cruise or try Pirates & Pals Fireworks Voyage for nighttime fun without entering a park.  Because you'll have to many family members together, consider commemorating the event with a Mini Portrait Session as well. We had photos of all three generations on our recent 70th birthday celebration for my father-in-law, and were so pleased with the results. Currently, this costs $150, and is super-easy to do, too. (Just an hour out of your trip for a lifetime of memories!)

Send another question including how many family members and the age / ability range of them, too. I'd love to send you more ideas for a spectacular 50th birthday surprise for your own Prince Charming!
