We're planning on staying off Disney grounds when we come in February. Are we still able to have a dining plan without staying on property? How does that all work?!?

    Hi Jamee!

Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Winter's a great time to visit Walt Disney World Resort because it's so nice to get away from the cold to enjoy a vacation in the Florida sunshine! Keep in mind that advanced dining reservations open 180 days in advance, so you should be able to make dining reservations for your February vacation either now or in the next few weeks, which is the best way to ensure you are able to enjoy the dining experiences on your "must-do" list!

Disney dining plans are a great way to pay for the majority of your dining expenses in advance of your vacation. The Disney dining plans are all connected to a reservation at a Disney Resort hotel through a vacation package, where Guests receive one set of dining entitlements per person on their reservation per night of the reservation. Unfortunately, there is no way to add a dining plan to your vacation if you are not staying at a Disney Resort hotel, so if you will be staying at a different hotel, you will not be able to add a dining plan to your trip.

Even without a dining plan, you will still be able to enjoy many incredible dining experiences during your trip. If you are still interested in paying for dining expenses in advance, I recommend that you consider purchasing Disney Gift Cards to use during your vacation. I always get Disney Gift Cards for our trips and as I find it's great way to manage our travel funds!

Please let us know if you have any additional questions as you continue planning! T-T-F-N, ta ta for now!
