I am planning on staying at the Disney Resort for my 5th wedding anniversary. We have a 21 month old boy, so I am trying to find a place to suit everyone. I thought about GF or AKL, but GF has a lot of refurbs gonig on from what I read. Any suggestions?

    Hi Scott!

Happy 5th anniversary!  We will be celebrating 5 years this year as well.

The Grand Floridian is currently building a section for Disney Vacation Club.  The construction going on does not affect the main resort, other than you can see it going on next door.  From what I have heard from other panelists that have recently stayed there, the construction did not take away from their experience.  With that being said, Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of my favorite resorts.  My son, now 4, loves to see all of the animals roaming around and the resort itself is gorgeous.

If you are interested in staying on the monorail line and are worried about the construction, I highly suggest the Polynesian.  It is one of the original resorts at Walt Disney World and the rooms themselves are a bit larger than some of the newer resorts.  The pool is really neat with a volcano in the middle and water slide and it is home to my favorite restaurant, 'Ohana!

Every resort at Walt Disney World is completely different, so it depends on what suits your appeal the most.  If you are going for romantic elegance for your anniversary, I would definitely pick the Grand Floridian.

    Have a magical day!
