We are planning on staying at Art of Animation on our trip this summer. This is our first WDW trip. Is there a place close by to purchase a few groceries to save on meal costs?

Hi William, congratulations on planning your very first Walt Disney World trip. You and your family are in for an amazing time.

As a mother of three kids, I can understand you wanting to save a little money while there. You have several options to purchase groceries there. My first suggestion is heading to the Landscape of Flavors food court area at Art of Animation. There you will find a grab-and-go section that has milk, juice, various cereals, and snacks. My family always buys milk and cereal in our resort and then we keep it in the small fridge in the room. Unless we have a special character breakfast planned, we eat in the room before heading out. That way, the kids are nourished and fed and aren't having to wait through the bus ride and entrance into the park while complaining that they are starving! You can sometimes even find prepared sandwiches, yogurts, small salads, and fruit.

If you would rather get groceries from a local grocer, I would suggest Garden Grocer at www.gardengrocer.com. You can place an online order (at least 36 hours prior to arrival) to be delivered to your room when you arrive. Even if you check in and head straight to the parks, the bell stand can hold these items and even store refrigerated items until you return. Delivery charges will apply and there is a $40 minimum to orders. However, this is a convenient and reliable source for local grocery delivery especially if you do not have access to a car.

If, in fact, you will be driving or have a rental car, there is a grocery store called Goodings near Downtown Disney  on SR 535 in the Crossroads Shopping Center. I will admit that I have found them to be a little pricey, but that is just my opinion. There is also a convenient store at the gas station across from Downtown Disney on Buena Vista Drive.

I hope this can help you plan a budget friendly trip while still enjoying all the magic Walt Disney World has to offer.
