Planning to stay at campground January 2017. Bringing our RV. However, the kids want to know if they can stay in a tent on the same site. They think it would be fun! Wondering if that is allowed.

Hi Tanya! Staying at Fort Wilderness Campgrounds in Walt Disney World is a wonderful experience. My husband and I also head there as often as we can with our RV and we think it is one of the finest campgrounds in the country.

You are allowed to park one car and have a tent on your site. The premium campsite loops will have long concrete pads and some of them will not have room off the pad to pitch a tent. That would be my only concern for the premium loops. The regular loops will have partial concrete and sand pads which are perfect for the families bringing tents as the sand is soft and easy for the tent stakes to hold.

Now just as a heads up let your kids know that there are small animals in Fort Wilderness. Armadillos love snacking at night and will make some noise and deer often travel throughout the campgrounds after dark. Turkeys also will move around but not necessarily at night. Camping is wonderful but they might hear night noises from some of the animal residents so they need to be prepared.  The other thing for you to consider before bringing all the camping gear is that January can be quite cold even in Florida. Watch the long range forecast for the temperatures and bring gear accordingly for the little campers.

I am sure everyone will have fun and enjoy this great resort on Disney property.
