Hi! Planning to stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Are there preferred savannah view rooms? Want a room close to restaurant so we can refill our mugs. Also when we are in lobby do we have to go outside to get to room? Or it’s connected by a hallway inside? Thx!

Jambo, Christina, and welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

I had my first stay at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge last fall, and I fell in love. There is nothing like sitting on your balcony, drinking a cup of coffee and watching the animals roam the Savanna. I can't even describe the combination of peace, relaxation, and magic I felt in those moments.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge doesn’t have a "preferred" room category, so some of the Savanna view rooms can be a longer walk to the main lobby area. My advice is to take a look at a map of the resort and perhaps read some reviews online, and then call the Walt Disney World Resort Reservations Center at (407) 939-1936 to add a request to your reservation based on your priority. Some Guests like to request a certain Savanna view (there are a variety of Savannas at the resort), others prefer to be close to the pool, transportation, or the lobby. While request can't be guaranteed, Cast Members do try to accommodate when possible.

To refill your Resort Refillable Mug at Jambo House, you'll visit The Mara. I found its location to be a little out of the way, but I enjoyed the walk because the resort is just so beautiful, lined with African art and glimpses of lush nature views.

You won't have to walk outside to get from the lobby to your room, though there is a short outside walk to get the The Mara. Also, if you'll be visiting Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village, perhaps for a meal at the incredible Sanaa (order the Indian-Style Bread Service and the Malawi Mango Margarita, trust me!), there is a short outdoor walk or an available shuttle.

Enjoy this gorgeous resort and your visit to Walt Disney World Resort!

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
