We are planning a splurge of a lifetime and staying at the Polynesian for my 60th. I am seeking advice if I would like a theme park view room, or more a lavapool view room. I like being near a lobby and fun stuff, like..not far away from the main action...

Aloha, Lauren and on behalf of all of my planDisney panelists, let me wish you an early Happy Birthday!

Celebrating your milestone birthday with a stay at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is just as Magical as Maui’s transforming hook and I’m excited for you to experience this classic resort.

Lauren, while every room at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has something different to offer, it sounds like you might really enjoy the Samoa longhouse. Throughout this resort you will find different “longhouses” that house a number of rooms. If proximity to the Great Ceremonial House is your top priority but still taking into account a great view of the feature pool, I recommend requesting the Samoa longhouse (or building). In a matter of mere minutes you can be shopping at the Moana Mercantile or checking in for your reservation at Kona Café while still savoring the views from your room.

Lauren, I also encourage you to review the map and layout of this resort prior to making any requests. In looking at the map you may decide that proximity to the Great Ceremonial House is at the top of your wishlist and would rather request the Rarotonga longhouse. Or maybe you’re decide that taking in views of Magic Kingdom Park tops any other desire and you request the Tuvalu longhouse. Lauren, there are truly no "bad" locations, only different priorities for different guests and as you're the birthday girl, you get to choose!

To make a room request, you’ll want to call into the Disney Resort Hotel Reservations Line and speak to a Cast Member about noting your request on your reservation. While requests aren’t guaranteed, when able, I know the Cast Members love to help dreams come true.

Lauren, wherever you stay, I know you'll be smiling as serenely as Te Fiti with her heart restored. With the newly refurbished rooms that will be unveiled later this summer, the close proximity to Magic Kingdom Park and the South Pacific vibes of this resort, you’ll never want your birthday to end.

Best wishes for a memorable stay and the happiest of birthdays. I hope to see you here again at planDisney with any other questions you might have!

    Lauren
