I am planning on spending New Year’s Eve in Disney. I would like to know what things are there to do to bring in the new year.

Welcome to the Moms Panel, Tanya!

New Year's Eve at Walt Disney World Resort is an experience like no other! There are plenty of options for you to ring in 2019 Disney-style!

If you are looking for unique experiences outside of the theme parks, look no further than the New Year's Eve Celebrations at Disney's Contemporary Resort! You may choose from family-friendly offerings such as, the Pixar Party: A New Year's Eve Celebration and Disney Countdown to Midnight. Both include the option to purchase VIP access to the Ink & Paint Club (suggested for adults without kids). Either way you might find yourself singing a few lines of "Auld Lang Syne" at some point during the evening.

We don't yet have the schedule of all the programming inside the theme parks for New Year's Eve. Ordinarily, there are many celebratory activities, parades and special fireworks inside the parks. In the past, there have been dazzling New Year's Eve firework displays. Magic Kingdom Park typically delivers the 360 degrees fireworks extravaganza Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks Spectacular. Epcot usually shows an extended version of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth with countdown and special pyrotechnics. Disney's Hollywood Studios generally presents Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! and then Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular just after midnight.

If you plan to visit one of the Disney Parks on New Year's Eve, I strongly recommend arriving early and staying until closing time. Parks tend to fill-up very quickly on New Year's Eve, and once they reach capacity no further admittance is allowed. I also suggest visiting Epcot on December 31, 2018. This theme park rarely closes due to capacity, as it easily absorbs greater numbers of Guests.
