Hi Manuel!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Well, aren’t you sweet to plan a vacation around your son’s birthday. A first birthday at Walt Disney World sounds "practically perfect in every way." I did the same when my son turned one, and let me tell you, it was a fabulous way to celebrate. We have the most amazing memories from that experience, and I hope you and your family will do that same!
Character greetings may be temporarily paused during this
phased reopening, but Disney is adding the "spoonful of sugar" by creating lots of magic moments centered around character appearances. For example, outside The Crystal Palace, Pooh, Piglet and their friends from the Hundred Acre Wood pose on the porch while guests can take selfies and grab those photo opportunities from afar. Buzz Lightyear shows up from
infinity and beyond on the stage area outside his attraction, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. These characters will still be interacting with Guests, just from a safe social distance for now.
At Magic Kingdom, look for the “Mickey and Friends Cavalcade” (think mini parade) as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and pals surprise Guests throughout the day along the traditional parade route. Meanwhile, on Hollywood Boulevard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, processionals like a “Pixar Pals Motorcade” will feature familiar faces from
The Incredibles and
Toy Story. I’d suggest checking the
My Disney Experience app for updated information on character appearances and where they will be located.
While we’re talking birthdays, let me make some suggestions on how to make you little man’s birthday extra special while at the Most Magical Place on Earth:
-Pick up a Birthday Button from your
Disney Resort Hotel, at Guest Relations at all the Theme Parks and Disney Springs, or at all ticketing windows. Then watch as Cast Members and fellow Guests wish him “Happy Birthday!”
-Plan a Special Delivery or Experience with
Disney Floral and Gifts. With a variety of packages and individual gifts, you can customize your selection for your birthday boy! There's a special gift for every Disney fan, ranging from pirates, Pixar pals, or Mickey Mouse.
-For a special birthday keepsake, get Birthday Mickey Ears that can be embroidered with his name from The Chapeau in Magic Kingdom.
Manuel, wishing you a "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" vacation and an awesome first birthday celebration!
