Hello! We are planning to take our son to Disney World in April 2010. How far in advance can we make reservations for both our rooms and dinners? What is the best method of planning our week at the resort since it is a year away? Thanks, Patti in PA

    Hi Patti,

How exciting you've decided to plan a vacation to Walt Disney World!  It can be a lot of fun to plan, especially when you have plenty of time to do a lot of research.

Now is the time for you to start resort shopping.  The website offers a lot of great information but I'll be honest, when I'm trying to thoroughly research a resort, I love to visit  They have a really great, and simple to use listing of all of the resorts in Walt Disney World.  It includes large selection of photos of each resort, so you can really see more detail of the resorts.

Unfortunately the resort packages (which include tickets and dining) will not be made available to book until sometime late summer or early fall.  If you are traveling at a popular time, and depending on when you're planning to travel in April it could be, I would suggest booking a room-only reservation now (they accept room-only reservations up to 499 days in advance).  This will secure you a room in your preferred resort.  Once the packages are released you can simply call back and they can convert your room-only reservation to one of their packages.

I hope this was helpful, be sure to come back with all your planning questions!
