We're planning a short trip this November (ASMo) but would like to have dinner at either the WL or the Poly to "research" our big trip next year. Will they let us look around a bit or perhaps show us the rooms?

Yes and Yes, Stacey!  Wandering around resorts is actually one of my favorite things to do at WDW.  I'm always just amazed at how beautiful and how unique each resort area is.  Sometimes we eat at one of the resort's restaurants and other times we just wander around the grounds and main building.

I also never hesitate to ask at Guest Services to see a room because we are considering a future stay at the resort.  Sometimes I am able to see a room and other times it doesn't work out (no available rooms or cast members).  Interestingly, whenever we see a room we usually end up staying in that resort on our next trip!
