Planning a Sept 2011 trip. I'm a type-A, control freak who wants to plan every minute. My fiance wants to be spontaneous and HATES any semblance of a plan (even ADRs!). Any advice on compromises to make us both happy and keep me from freaking out? Thanks!

Ah, Cory! Welcome to the club! I'm blessed to have a wife who supports my methodical, gung-ho approach to visiting the parks. That being said, I know you're not alone.

If your fiance really loves you, he'll do what you say. Kidding! Sort of.

In all seriousness though, this could be an excellent project of working together. He doesn't want to be tied to a schedule and feel rushed. I get that. Sort of. I somewhat subscribe to your approach of having a master game plan.

The two biggest things you can collaborate on together are touring plans and restaurants.

Spend some time together, you two little lovebirds, and look at the various menus and restaurants online. Get an idea for what he likes and give him input on the front end. Pick out three restaurants that you two really want to do together, and make your ADRs. It'll seem less like "scheduling" and more like "together time." I dare him to say he doesn't want "together time."

Next, look at must-do attractions. Find out what his favorites are and leave it at that (for now.) Then, between this time and your trip in September, start looking at park schedules and when the best days are to visit certain parks. Each morning, talk about the top three things you want to see in a park on that particular day. Hit these first - as logically as possible - and afterwords, tour the rest of the park (or hop to another park) at a more leisurely pace.
