Hi I am planning on running the HM in feb2014. I am trying to understand the timing of the race. It starts at 5:30 am does it take up to a hour for all the racers to start, when should you plan to be there for and when would you back @ the hotel.

    Hi Denise!

The Princess Half Marathon is a great race!  I think you're going to love it:)

You are right that the Half Marathon will begin bright and early at 5:30 a.m.!  Corral A will begin first and then every 5 to 6 minutes another corral will begin.  So, it can take up to around 45 minutes for the last corral to start.

Generally, they want all runners to be in their corrals no later than 5 a.m.  Buses begin running from the resorts around 3 a.m.  You will receive instructions with the official times for your race about a month before race weekend.

I like to be on one of the first two buses out of my resort.  Lines can start forming and traffic will begin to back up the closer you get to race time.  Personally, I like to get to the starting area super early and not worry about all of that!

Your return to your hotel will depend on what corral you start in and how fast you run the race.  I generally start with my corral starting time,  add my anticipated race time, and then add 30 minutes to cool down, plus another 30-45 minutes to wait for a bus and get back to the resort.  That will give you a good idea of what time you will be able to return.

I hope this helps!  Please let me know if you have any other questions!
