    Planning to run Princess 1/2 marathon in Feb.. Staying at Saratoga. Will bus transportation to ESPN for kids races/Expo be available? Do all kids running receive a medal or a certificate of some kind? Is a rental car beneficial?

    Hi Jennifer!  I love the Princess half marathon!  It's a great race with lots of "princess power"!

    They have not finalized the plans for host resorts for the 2013 Princess Half.  I can tell you that Saratoga Springs WAS a host resort for this year's race and probably will be again.  It is very beneficial to stay at a host resort.  These are the only resorts that offer bus transportation to ALL race weekend events.  (packet pick-up and expo, 5K race, Kids Races, Half Marathon)  So, with that in mind, assuming that Saratoga is a host resort again next year, then you really wouldn't need a rental car.  The traffic on race mornings is pretty heavy, so jumping on a bus and letting someone else drive you right to the meeting area is a huge relief.  I have stayed at a non-host resort before and driven myself.  It worked out OK, but I made sure I left at least two and a half hours before the race to beat the traffic. 

    For the kids races, all kids will receive a t-shirt, runners bib, and a medal for doing the races.  My boys have participated in them and they love it!  It really makes them feel like they are a part of the race weekend too!
