    Hi. I am planning on returning to Disney in June of this year. What exactly does Ol'Man Island include? I was looking at Port Orleans or the Contemporary. The original pool at the Contemporary seems a little on the boring side. Any advice. Thank yo

    Hi Stacey!

    Port Orleans Riverside is my favorite Disney Moderate Resort.  Ol' Man Island is the name of the island that contains the main pool at Riverside.  It is a great pool with a long water slide; my children, ages 12 and 7, and I love it!  The theming at Riverside is better than the theming of the pool of the Contemporary in my opinion; however, the Contemporary is supposed to be sleek and modern and its pool does fit that theme well.  At Port Orleans Riverside's Ol' Man Island, there's also a fishing hole nearby, a playground for young children, a campfire on some nights, and a bar with alcoholic drinks. 

    However, the Contemporary is a Disney Deluxe Resort and within walking distance of the Magic Kingdom.  Being on the monorail line, it also has very easy access to Epcot.  From Port Orleans Riverside, you will have to take buses to the various theme parks.  The Contemporary also has nicer places to dine than does Riverside.  But if the pool is your deciding factor, then definitely go with Port Orleans Riverside!
