Planning a ret trip between end of June and end of August.Shooting for the end of Aug. bc it seems to be least busy.If the free dining plan is offerred in the fall, when does it begin? With new offer what time would be cheapest?Family of 4 stay at popcent

    Nora:

Since 2005, Disney has offered the free dining package. We went on it one year and what a savings!

The start dates have been anywhere from August 13 in 2006 to August 30 last year, I believe. So if that is one of the primary reasons for picking a date, I'd say the later in August, the better. Usually Disney releases the dining offer first to those who hold a Disney Visa, then to the general public.  So you may want to look into the Disney Visa, or just keep an eye out on a Disney discount site like www.mousesavers.com!

However, free dining isn't guaranteed, so you may be interested in the fact that Disney just extended its 7-for-4 nights package until August 15 when you book by March 29.

With the 7-for-4 deal, the cheapest time to go is during Value Season which begins August 8 at Pop Century. To determine your savings, just multiply the room rate ($82 during Value Season) times three, plus the savings of about $9 per person on tickets ($36). You'd see a savings of approximately $282. You don't have to buy the dining plan to get the 7-for-4 package.

When you compare apples to apples, though, and add the dining package onto the 7-for-4 package vs. the possible free dining package, free dining does turn out to be the better deal. Free dining is worth a savings of approximately $131 a day (2 adults, 1 junior, 1 child) for seven days whereas your savings with the 7-for-4 deal is about $91 a day for three days....

    Wishing you a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Whitney, Mississippi

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
