Lynde from MI Asked Note: This answer was provided prior to the change to planDisney and may still contain references to Disney Parks Moms Panel.

I am planning to register for the Food and Wine Half Marathon at WDW. I heard that it is encouraged to stay at a resort on property. Could you please provide me advice? Thank you.

    Hi Lynde!

Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I'm running Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend this year too!

I always tell my friends that there are so many benefits to staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, but for runcations it really can't be beat! The traditional benefits include your MagicBand, so you don't have to keep up with keys during the race, complimentary transportation from the airport and all theme parks, being able to book your FastPass reservations 60 days from arrival and truly so much more!

Specific to a runcation, when you arrive at Walt Disney World you will need to pick up your race bib from the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. If you are staying on-property outside the lobby there should be a bus that will take you directly to the expo. The early morning of the race the same convenient transportation is available which will drop you off directly next to the finish line, where you can check your bag and prepare to take on the course!

There are resort options to fit every budget and I know you'll find something that is perfect for you. The early morning alarm on race mornings can be tough and I promise you won't regret being on property when your commute to the start is that much easier. I hope you have a magical race!
