We are planning to race at Walt Disney World this year or next. If I run a 5k how difficult is it to get from my race finish to the kids races for my kids to race? I'm concerned with transportation, especially if I go back to between races. Thanks

    Hi, Jessica!

I am so excited to hear you are interested in participating in a runDisney race event this year or next. I'm especially excited to hear you want to get your children involved. My three children have participated in several runDisney races and always leave asking when the next one is.

When working out the logistics of participating in a 5k and having your children participate in the Kids' Races, each race weekend is set up slightly different. For example, during Walt Disney World® Marathon Weekend presented by Cigna®, you have the option of selecting between three different days for the Kids' Races, and the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend has two days to choose from. I can tell you regardless of which race weekend you are interested in, there is always several hours between the 5k and any events that may be held on the same day for the children.

If you are interested in the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ 10-Miler Weekend, the 5k and the Kids' Races are held on the same day with both events taking place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, so transportation will not be an issue. The Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend is the only one where you will need to take transportation from Disney's Animal Kingdom to the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, but there will be plenty of time to transfer venues.

I would love to know which race weekend you are interested in, Jessica! Additionally, I suggest signing up for runDisney Email Notifications. This is a free service and will keep you up to date on race registration and race details- races have been selling out in record time and I wouldn't want you to miss out! I hope this information has been helpful as you prepare and plan to runDisney. Please do not hesitate to ask any additional questions you may have.

    Have a magical day!
