I am planning on purchasing tickets to the Special Ticketed Event at Magic Kingdom on March 13, 2023. I am wondering if purchasing Genie+ and/or Lightning Lanes is an option. And if it is, will it be necessary? Thank-you

    Hi Stephanie,

Welcome to planDisney and thank you for asking us a question, my fellow Canadian!

I’ve had the chance to attend one of the Disney After Hours events at Magic Kingdom Park and it was an amazing night. We not only got to experience all of our favourite attractions with minimal waits, we even got to enter the park at 7:00 PM in order to see Disney Enchantment! I also think that I may have eaten my weight in popcorn and Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars that night, too…

While you may be able to purchase Disney Genie+ and get some Lightning Lane entrances to use before the fun starts at around 9:00 PM, Lightning Lane entrances aren’t in use during the event itself. Frankly, based on my experience, it really isn’t necessary, especially at the end of the night. If memory serves, I think we waited a total of 22 minutes to ride Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, about 30 minutes before the event ended. While I can’t guarantee that your wait times will be similar, they shouldn’t be long enough that you’ll miss the ability to use the Lightning Lane to zoom to the front of the queue.

I hope my answer helps you plan an amazing night during your visit to Walt Disney World Resort this March. Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions.

    Have a Magical Day,

    Lynne
