Hello. I am planning on purchasing a one day, one park ticket. Will I be able to upgrade that ticket later that day to a magic key? Thanks.

Hey there, hi there, Janice! Thanks so much for stopping by planDisney. I do a little happy dance every time I get to answer a question from a Guest wanting to join the Magic Key family!

I'm excited to share that you can indeed use the purchase price of your one-day, one-park ticket to a Magic Key Pass on the same day that you use the ticket. I recommend doing this after you are done for the day at the parks. It just needs to be upgraded before midnight that night. The reason I suggest doing it after you are done for the day is that once you upgrade it, you will lose your reservation because it was attached to your ticket. However, if reservations are still available that day for your Magic Key type, you could then make a new reservation, but that could be risky!

When you are ready to upgrade, you can do so in your Disneyland app. You will go to your ticket in the "Tickets and Passes" section and under your ticket, there will be an option to upgrade your ticket to a Magic Key Pass. I notice that you are a California resident, which means you may qualify for the Southern California resident pass, Imagine Pass, so be sure to make sure your current address is in your profile in the Disneyland app.

Once you have your Magic Key Pass, even more magic in the parks awaits you! First stop, try to get reservations at the Magic Key Terrace. And if you get an evening reservation, you just may have the best views of watching the Cars Land lights turn on for the evening.

Janice, thanks again for stopping by with your question and we hope to welcome you into the Magic Key family soon!
