Hi! We're planning a non-park day in the middle of our trip. What are some things we can do if it's too cold to swim? We're at the YC, so thinking we can walk to minigolf as one idea and we're doing Disney Springs a different day. Thanks

Hi Christine! It is always a good idea to plan a non park day during your Walt Disney World vacation. Time to just relax and enjoy your surroundings is just what the mouse ordered.

You will be able to walk to the wonderful Fantasia mini golf. It is located across from the Swan resort and it is a nice walk along the water and over the bridge. Other ideas include renting a pontoon boat and just cruising the Disney waters. I suggest you do this over at one of the Bay Lake or Seven Seas Lagoon resorts where you have a lot more area to investigate.

Another thought is to head to Fort Wilderness. This is the only location where you can reserve a Segway Tour and they will take you off road and into some of the back areas of Disney. You have a great chance to see some of the local wildlife such as deer and turkey. They also offer archery classes by reservation and you can rent canoes or kayaks to take through the wild canals surrounding the resort. You can actually make a day of just visiting Fort Wilderness. There are horseback rides, Chip and Dale's Campfire Singalong in the evening, and the stables to visit that is home to all of the Disney park horses. Walk into the barn and see some of the famous horses and enjoy the large calliope that was used in many Disney parades from the past. If you are lucky they might even have the farrier there putting new shoes on these big beasts.

Trails End is a great place for a breakfast or dinner buffet and for lunch they have a very good menu to choose from. In the evening you can enjoy a short but nice carriage ride through many of the RV loops. This is especially fun during holidays as the guests decorate their sites.

If you only want to spend a few hours I suggest you enjoy the monorail loop at the Magic Kingdom. You can stop and visit all the resorts and pick a lunch spot at one of them. Hope the weather still allows some swim time at the Yacht Club pool which is the best on property!
