Planning a 2 night weekend getaway for DD's16th birthday in 3/14 with her friends.Would love help deciding which DVC resort to choose based on points, location, and theming..thinking BLT (home resort) vs. BWV. (La Nouba Fri. night, MK Sat & Resort day

    Hi Jodie,

You are deciding between two Disney Vacation Club resorts that I love!  Disney's BoardWalk Villas is my home resort.  I love the hustle and bustle of Disney's BoardWalk, and I really enjoy being able to walk to Epcot.  Recently, my family and I have also discovered how much we enjoy Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort.  The modern and elegant feel there, coupled with the quick walk to Magic Kingdom, make it a great choice!

Given your criteria for choosing and the activities that you have planned, I recommend Bay Lake Tower.  At either resort, you would need to take transportation to Cirque du Soleil - La Nouba, whether it be driving your own car or taking Disney transportation.  At Bay Lake Tower you will be able to walk to Magic Kingdom.  Since you are visiting Magic Kingdom but not Epcot, Bay Lake Tower is a better location option.

I also considered that you want to spend a resort day.  It seems to me that teenage girls might prefer the sleek modernism of Bay Lake Tower over the quaint, turn-of-the-century feel at Disney's BoardWalk.  Also, if the girls decide that they want to explore a bit, at Bay Lake Tower you will be right on the monorail line for them to ride to other resorts.

I do realize that Bay Lake Tower will probably require a few extra vacation points than BoardWalk Villas; however, I think that on balance Bay Lake Tower will be a good choice for your weekend.  If you want to save on points a little, you could book a standard view villa at Bay Lake Tower, which requires the fewest amount of points of the Bay Lake Tower views.

I hope that these opinions are helpful for you, Jodie.  Have a great time planning your getaway, and please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
