We are planning a 7 night trip in early October with our two grandkids, 2 and 3. Do the Concierge level rooms at AKL have balconies or just a window view of the savannah? Will our grandkids enjoy the AKL and can we really see wildlife from the room? Thanks

You must be so excited to take your grandchildren to Walt Disney World.

The Animal Kingdom Lodge is a beautiful resort. You’ll be happy to know that all rooms at the Animal Kingdom Lodge have balconies. These doors can be locked so the kids can not access the balcony alone.  Concierge rooms will offer a view of one of the 3 savannas. You will see animals from your room!

Our son loved this resort when he was the age of your grandkids. Giraffes are found all 3 savannas and are really fun to watch. The kids will enjoy the zero-depth entry, Uzima Springs pool which allows for fun wading. There is also a nearby kiddy pool. When the children need time to play, there is a playground as well. In the lobby, there are televisions playing cartoons. Children seem to congregate here in the mornings before heading out to the parks. It’s adorable to watch them all sitting together.

Note that since the Animal Kingdom Lodge added Disney Vacation Club accommodations on the fifth and sixth floors there have been some changes. Concierge rooms are now only on the fourth floor. You will need to go to the fifth floor to access the Club Lounge.

I will also mention that there is construction going on to the left (Sunset savanna) of the resort. This is where a new building, Kidani Village, is being built. The main building is now being dubbed Jambo House. I just wanted to let you know that some of the views are not quite as exotic during this construction phase. It’s difficult to imagine yourself in the middle of a savanna with a modern construction site nearby. Try to request the Arusha or Uzima savanna by having it noted on your reservation and then inquiring again at Check In.

I wish you a fun journey with your grandchildren as you explore this exotic resort.
