hi there. planning a 11 night trip with DS4 and DD2.5.. Ideally would love to stay at contemp (5 nghts), switch to BCR (4 nts) and back to contemp (2 nts). do you think this would be too hectic for young kids? want to cut travel time and enjoy BCR pool

Howdy Julie!  Wow!  This sounds amazing.  It's doable.  We are making similar moves during our next vacation for the exact reason you mentioned...we love the pool at Disney's Beach Club Resort.  By moving, we can enjoy a variety of different aspects of the resort hotels as well as take advantage of the proximity of various resorts to specific theme parks.

My children are currently 6 and 4 though we made similar moves when they were younger.  They now seem a bit confused if we visit Walt Disney World and stay in one resort the entire time.

Is moving ideal with young children?  Not really.  Does it work?  Absolutely...and it can be fun!

If you decide to move, it's really a very simple process. On the day you check-out of the Contemporary, you will call the Bell Stand and let them know that you need to transfer your luggage to a new resort. They will ask you for the number of bags you will have transferred. A Cast Member from Bell Services will come to your room and give you a receipt for the number of bags you are transferring. Your luggage will be transferred and you will be free to enjoy your day.

Please note: once your luggage is picked up by Bell Services, you will not see it again until late afternoon. Be sure you have everything you need. This is particularly important given that you are the parents of a 2.5 year old.  You will then do the same thing when you move from Beach Club back to the Contemporary.  If there is a way to cut your moves down to just one change, that might make things a bit easier on you but I realize you may be booking your vacation based on room/villa availability.

Please let me know what you decide to do.  I know this will be a magical vacation for you and I LOVE that you are making the most of your time at Walt Disney World!!
