We are planning a 5 night stay for the last time with our grown sons. I chose 5 nights at Polynesian but have always wanted to stay in a Savannah view room at Animal Kindgom as well. Bucket list resorts. What are the pros and cons of doing a split stay?

    Welcome to planDisney, Paula!

I’m so happy you have found us and even more excited to help answer your question. As a mom to little ones, the thought of a split stay was daunting. I could not imagine packing and unpacking everyone more than once. So when we booked our first split stay, I was both nervous and excited.

Since then, a split stay is a must! It feels like two vacations in one. My family is a little older now, and the new expectation is at least two different resort stays. We love it. Plus, if you didn't know, Bell Services will transfer our luggage to our new resort, making this process even easier! TIP: Drop your bags off at Bell Service before heading to the theme parks the day of the switch. That way, you can meet your bags at your new resort later in the day.

Along with feeling like a whole new vacation, checking off a different Disney Resort on our resort must-do list is so rewarding. We are on a mission to try each resort at least once, but we often resort back to our favorites. Overall, we just love the rush of experiencing something new. Disney is familiar to us, so mixing our resort mid-week adds some excitement. Checking out the resort amenities, dining options, and just living in the magic is so fun. A few years ago, the rain was pretty heavy. So we went back to our Savannah View room and sat on the balcony with treats ordered from The Mara and just took the sights in. The whole ambiance of Animal Kingdom Lodge was truly magical.

As far as cons, I honestly don’t have any! Everything is just so exciting. Discovering the new and experiencing things we normally wouldn’t have had we not made the switch adds to the core memories we make over the trip. So I can confidently say, do it! Book the split stay, Paula, and check off two bucket list resorts. You won’t regret it!

I hope this helped inspire you to do it. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask. Until then, enjoy the countdown to this very exciting combo!

    Enjoy,
