We are planning our next Vaca on Jan 9-13 2014. I realize that is during the Run Disney. If we r NOT participating in the run is it a bad time to go? Will anything be closed or that we would miss out on? Thanks!

    Hi Lauren!
Your trip will be during the Walt Disney World Marathon weekend.  It is runDisney's biggest race weekend, and you will probably feel like you see runners everywhere, BUT if you look at the crowd prediction calendar, the parks will actually be very light on crowds that weekend. The crowd is predicted to be less than a 5 out of 10 for every day of your trip.
    (1, 3, 3, 5, 3, for your trip's days.  This information comes from www.touringplans.com)

You won't miss out on anything because of the races.  There will be some runners going through some of the parks on that Sunday.  The Magic Kingdom will be cleared out before park opening time each day though.  You may see some runners on Saturday at Epcot (but not for long, as the race starts at 5:30 a.m.)   Sunday, you will see some runners at Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Epcot with all parks being clear by around 2 p.m.

As a runner, when I am there as a spectator, I really enjoy seeing the runners come through the parks!  I like to cheer them on, and then be on my way to my next ride.  If you think that would bother your family, you could stick to the Magic Kingdom on Sunday until after 2, when all parks will be clear.  Animal Kingdom will clear 2nd on Sunday.

On Saturday, just plan to skip Epcot in the morning.  Otherwise, everything else will be the same.

There will be some road closures on Saturday and Sunday mornings, but the Disney bus drivers are used to that and it's not an issue unless you are driving yourself.  In that case, your front desk will have road closure information and alternate routes.

I hope this helps!  Your family will have a great time!  Please let me know if you have any other questions.
