Planning our next trip for 2014. Trying to decide best time to go Feb/Sept/Oct. We usually go in March/ May. Last trip was May 2012 (Star Wars Wknd) & we are looking for less crowds for this trip. Next trip we will have DS will be 6 & 9. Thank you!

    Hi Melinda,

My family loves going to Walt Disney World during less crowded times of year. Walt Disney World has added exciting promotions at some of these times, so there are often extra activities available. This means that there is really never an uncrowded time - just less crowded ones. I enjoy using the website touringplans.com for crowd information. Using this site, you can see predictions of crowd  levels at Walt Disney World throughout the year.

My family and I have been to Walt Disney World in February. The weather can be a little chilly, with average highs in the low to mid 70s. The crowds are typically pretty low. However, watch out for Presidents' Day weekend when crowd levels can be high. Of your three options, September may have the lowest crowds. Children are just heading back to school and parents seem less likely to take a vacation at this time. I like the weather in September as Florida is just heading out of the hottest part of summer.

My family's favorite time of year to visit Walt Disney World is October. The weather is still feels like the end of summer with average high temperatures in the mid 80s. The crowds are lighter than the peak times. We think that the best thing is the Epcot International Food and Wine festival that takes place from late September to early November. At this festival, Epcot adds booths around the World Showcase where you can taste foods from different countries around the world. Even if your sons are not adventurous eaters, it's a great time to introduce them to new tastes as the servings are appetizer-sized. My 7-year-old daughter asked again and again to eat the beef skewer from the Argentina booth! At the Food and Wine Festival, there are also additional concerts each night called the Eat to the Beat concerts, as well as children's activity areas set up in World Showcase.

Have a wonderful trip, Melinda.  Please do not hesitate to ask any more questions that you have!
