Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Jon!
We celebrated my Mouseketeers’ birthdays with a stay in a Royal Guest Room at
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside last spring, and it was just lovely. My kiddos loved falling asleep to the magical fireworks display on the headboards, and we all enjoyed searching for the many Disney details in the room, which is a fairytale-lover’s dream. Plus, this section of the resort is a great location – we enjoyed the scenic walk to
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter for beignets and dinner at the
Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory and for ride on the sea monster slide in the Doubloon Lagoon pool. You’re going to love it!
You’re correct that Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside is in the middle of a refurbishment. At this time, it’s my understanding that the refurbishments on the Royal Guest Rooms have been paused, and I’d guess that’s because of high occupancy during the holidays. I can’t speculate on their timeline for completing refurbishments, as the magic-makers at Disney have many projects on their hands and all maintenance plans are subject to change.
If you’d like to request a refurbished room, I recommend calling the Walt Disney World Resort’s Reservations Center at (407) 939-1936 and adding a note to your reservation making that request. While requests can’t be guaranteed, the room assigners do their best to honor Guest requests when they can.
If you’re worried about disruptions due to the refurbishment during your stay, I can tell you that I’ve had a few stays at Walt Disney World Resort hotels while they were undergoing refurbishment, and I haven’t experienced any issues. We’ve seen some construction fences and workers, but we haven’t had any issues with sleeping (or even mid-day napping). If you do experience a disruption, you’re encouraged to contact the front desk Cast Members, who are happy to help.
Enjoy your stay at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside this spring! There are so many amazing
recreation options at this resort, and the boat ride to
Disney Springs is so relaxing. Soak in all the magic and all the Disney details! As you count down to your visit, be sure to read the
Disney Parks Blog for the latest news, and please come back and see us if we can answer any more questions as you plan and dream.
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
