Hi Allison!
How awesome to be in the planning stages of a Disney Cruise Line vacation! It's such fun to check out ports of call, sail dates and Disney ships, then book the vacation of your dreams. May and June are awesome months to cruise - you'll enjoy warm temps and great weather.
Disney's selection of
Port Adventures can really add excitement and adventure to your vacation. With a wide variety of adventures for all ages and activity levels, you're sure to find something the whole family can enjoy.
First-time Disney cruisers are able to reserve Port Adventures from 3 to 75 days before the sail date, once the cruise fare has been paid in full. Castaway Club members (return Disney Cruise Line guests) are able to book up to 90-120 days in advance, depending on their membership level. Concierge guests can reserve Port Adventures at the 120-day mark.
While some Port Adventures have limited availability, there are plenty that have spots for large amounts of guests. My advice is to choose several options among the excursions offered, so if your first choice fills up, you have a backup plan!
For first-time cruisers, I'd definitely recommend four nights or longer. A four-night voyage is a great way to "test the waters" and see if cruising is for you! (Of course, no Disney Cruise is long enough for me!) No matter the length of our Disney Cruise Line vacations, we always step off the ship wishing we had more nights onboard.
Hope this helps! Happy Planning! - Diane W.
