Planning our March trip. Thinking about Mickeys Backyard BBQ. Staying at Bay Lake. For a 5:30 show how far in advance should we leave to get there in time? How long does it last? Would it be practical to plan a return to the MK for end of night activities?

    Hi Gail!

Be sure to have on your dancing shoes and leave plenty of room for food at the hour and a half BBQ party!

When using the complimentary Disney transportation, I like to give myself plenty of travel time. When traveling from Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort to Mickey's Backyard BBQ  take the Monorail to the Transportation Center and then take a bus to The Cabins. I would suggest leaving your resort an hour and half before showtime, 4:00pm,  in case the buses are running slow and crowds are heavy. It's also advised that guest arrive 30-40 minutes prior to showtime. So this should give you plenty of travel time and allow you to arrive when recommended.

Tip: If crowds are extremely heavy, give yourself plenty of travel time as there is no direct route by Disney transportation to The Cabins. If you have access to a car, you can par for free at The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness entrance.

If the Magic Kingdom is having late Extra Magic Hours you will have plenty of time to get back to the Park and have more fun!

Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
