I am planning on making a reservation to Disneyland next month and getting an Enchant Magic Key. However, I have a ticket and reservation for May and I want that value applied to the Magic Key. Do all future tickets apply to a Magic Key when purchasing?

Hi there, Emily! Welcome to planDisney! What's better than a trip to the Happiest Place on Earth? Two trips! There is so much magic in the air at the Disneyland Resort over the next few months, and I am so excited that you'll be able to enjoy it all.

I recently upgraded to an Enchant Key as well, so just think of me as your favorite Disney sidekick walking you through this process. Maybe the Pascal to your Rapunzel so we can get you to your Best Days Ever! It sounds like you are hoping to purchase and activate an Enchant Key on your trip in February but would like to apply the value of your May park ticket to the cost. Have I got that right? To do this, I would consider changing the theme park reservation you currently have for your May trip to your February trip as this would allow you to upgrade from the ticket you have already purchased. Once a Magic Key is purchased, you would not be able to apply any other ticket values in the future for a refund. There are a few things I would double-check before making any changes:

    1. Take a peek at the theme park reservation calendar to ensure that reservations are still available for your February park day. Each ticket type (One Park Per Day, Park Hopper, Magic Keys) pulls from its own pool of reservations, so be sure that you are looking at the calendar that corresponds to your ticket. On the one linked here, you will see the option to toggle between One Park Per Day tickets and Park Hoppers.

    2. Take a look at the reservation calendar for the Enchant Key in May to note any block-out dates. Magic Key theme park reservations can be made up to 90 days in advance, which differs from regular theme park tickets which have a 120-day window, so you'll see that the May dates are not quite available to make reservations but you can see the block-out dates.

How is everything looking so far? Are we good to get you the key to the kingdom?! If you can move your May reservation to February, I suggest waiting until you have scanned into the park before making your upgrade. Your Magic Key is considered a new ticket and theme park reservations do not transfer between tickets so you would lose your reservation for the day and be subject to the Magic Key reservation availability.

I know this is a lot to take in, but now it's time to have some fun! Picture yourself opening up your Disneyland Mobile App as soon as you've hit Main Street, U.S.A. Maybe you're on your way to get some Mickey waffles or to be first in line for your favorite attraction. No matter where you are in the park, when you open the app you will be prompted with the option to upgrade. The cost will already be adjusted to include what you have paid for your original ticket. Follow the prompts and with a few clicks, a Magic Key is yours! You can immediately start using it for discounts on merchandise and dining. Grab yourself some Mickey ears and a churro and off you go!

Emily, you won't believe your luck, but February is Magic Key Holder Celebration Month! You will have access to special photo backdrops, merchandise, menu items, and limited edition giveaways ... and likely some pixie-dusted surprises as well!

I sure hope this was helpful, Emily! Let us know if you have any more questions. Happy to help over here at planDisney.

    Magic awaits!
