Planning a last minute 1st vacation to WDW with our 2 1/2 year old son- 7/27-29. We really wanted to go to T-Rex Cafe but it is booked up when I tried the online reservation. Should I call each day and see if there are any cancelations? Any suggestions?

    Cassie:

When I made reservations for T-Rex for our trip last November, I did so because I thought the kids would enjoy the atmosphere. Little did I know that my husband and I would agree that it was the best meal we had the entire vacation (their Chicken Balsamic Flatbread and ravioli dish were out-of-this-world)! So I totally think your efforts to land a reservation will be worth it.

My suggestion is to put the Disney Dining Number (407-939-3463) in your speed dial and call it whenever you think about it....while you're cooking dinner, standing in the line at the grocery store, you name it. You never know when someone is going to cancel their plans--or their dining reservations. I was able to land a coveted reservation at Chef Mickey's doing this--and with two days left of our vacation!

If your diligence doesn't pay off, you can also get to the restaurant around 11 a.m. to see if there are any openings for standby at lunch (my understanding is that lunch is easier to get standby than dinner). Even if you have a long wait, there's so much to do at Downtown Disney while you pass the time!

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
