Planning a last minute trip to Disney and have not been since I was a child. Moderate budget with kids ages 13 and 10. Want to check out Harry Potter, not sure what else is out there. Need suggestions for convenient places to stay and park/food ideas

    Hi Sharon,

I admire parents that plan last-minute trips. I'm such a compulsive planner and would love to just go on a trip without months of planning!

Since you haven't visited Walt Disney World in many years, it'll be a whole new world for you as well as your kids.

On a moderate budget, you should check out Port Orleans Riverside. It's a great moderately priced hotel with a fun pool. Also, Coronado Springs (a moderate hotel) has a large pool with a fantastic water slide. Well, at least that's what my tween tells me!

Walt Disney World includes Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studios. If you stay at an on-site hotel (such as the two I suggested), you'll have complimentary transportation to these four theme parks as well as Downtown Disney (shopping, restaurant, entertainment), the water parks, and other resort hotels where you may wish to dine.

To reach destinations off of WDW property, including Universal Studios (Harry Potter), you will need your own transportation.

I would suggest visiting all four theme parks at WDW. Great places to eat include 50s Prime Time Cafe at Disney's Hollywood Studios, Boma in the Animal Kingdom Lodge, Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge, Les Chefs de France in Epcot, and 'Ohana at the Polynesian. There are many others which you might enjoy as well.

I hope this helps get you started on your planning. We're here to help with all of your questions as you devise a last minute trip!
