We are planning a large family trip in October. My question is, my son is in the military and there is a chance he may deploy by then. We would like to buy his ticket and reserve our date now with ours. If he ends up deploying, do we lose that money/ticket

Hey there, Amy, and welcome to planDisney! A visit to Walt Disney World is always pretty special, but being able to experience it with the entire family definitely leaves a lasting impression! Thank you to your son for his service to our country!

Amy, If your son is not able to make this Disney Vacation with your family, you will not lose the money paid for his Theme Park Ticket. According to Walt Disney World’s Ticket Usage Guidelines, the amount paid for unused expired tickets may be applied towards the purchase of new tickets at a later date. So even if your son does not make this vacation, you’ll have two reasons to plan a big return bash to Disney World. 1) Your son will be returning from deployment, and 2) you will have unused ticket funds to apply towards your visit! That sounds like a win, win for me. And the perfect way to reunite as a family after a period of service.

I recommend buying your tickets and reserving your dates soon. By getting an early jump on the planning, you can secure your most desired Theme Parks. October is a beautiful month to visit Central Florida, and I want to make sure that your time there is extra special!

I hope this helps, Amy! Your Disney vacation will be here before you know it! And it’s my hope that your family gets to experience it all together. After all, it is Disney World - you never know what special things are in store!

    Until Next Time,
