Bonjour Friend,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for your question! I’ve stayed in almost every Walt Disney World Resort Hotel and I think every Resort has things that both the young and the young at heart will enjoy. The choice ultimately depends on your family’s tastes and budget.
That being said, I think that with kids of those ages, a stay at
Disney’s Art of Animation Resort would be a great choice for a “First Visit” Resort due to the larger than life characters and the Big Blue Pool area. Plus, a Family Suite would give you plenty of space so that your family can spread out a little bit more. If you don’t mind spending a bit more on your accommodations and don’t need the extra space of a Family Suite, then
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is probably my personal favourite of the “monorail” resorts, due to its theming and pool area. It really transports you to another world!
As for which days are less crowded in August, I’ve typically found that late August is usually best in terms of crowd levels. If you want more information about crowd levels, I’ve found that www.easywdw.com and www.touringplans.com have great crowd information. Although the latter site is a subscription-based site, it’s probably my favourite “un-official” resource, with detailed maps and descriptions of each Walt Disney World Resort Hotel (and even what the view from your room may look like) on top of crowd calendars.
I hope my answer helps you plan your upcoming vacation and please don’t hesitate to come back and visit us if you have any other questions!
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
