We're planning for Jan 2015. Our son will be 19 months old when we go. What can we expect as far as temperatures and crowds this time of year? Should be care whether or not our hotel has a fun fun outdoor pool for days we can no longer handle the park?

    Hi Kendra:

January is a great time to visit Walt Disney World.  The weather typically is high 70s to low 80s.  I was at Disney World four years ago during the first week of January when it was unseasonably cold.  However, when I was at Disney World five years ago in early January, the weather was in the normal 70s and 80s.  So it's always a good idea to dress in layers in case the weather changes unexpectedly.  There are always crowds at Disney World, but during January, crowds tend to be generally light since schools are back in session and the Holiday season is over.

If you are staying on property, all of the pools are heated year-round, so it's likely you will find opportunities, hopefully a lot, to swim.  With a 19-month old, you'll likely want to head back to the resort to rest and maybe swim in the afternoon.  A 19-month old likely won't care too much about how fancy the pool is, so while it will be nice to have a pool, I wouldn't be too concerned about it being too engaging.  When my boys were 19, they enjoyed just about any pool that was wet.

    Enjoy your vacation.
