Planning impromtu 4 day trip to DW at the end of January. New DVC members, 2 adults, 2boys (2 and 3). Trying to decide where to stay, will spend most our time at MK. Beach Club, AK, or SS? Like AK for the boys but it's not very close to MK- worth it?

    Hi, Shelley!

Congratulations on joining the Disney Vacation Club family! Can't wait for you to walk through the doors of your first DVC stay and hear "Welcome Home." It's just one of the many magical touches you'll enjoy as a DVC Member.

Regarding your location, if you'd like to stay close to Magic Kingdom, I highly recommend Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort. Your boys are little, so you'll likely be using strollers each day; there is nothing nicer than wheeling a sleeping toddler onto the monorail, wheeling him straight into your villa at BLT, then tucking him safely into bed after a magical day in the park. Not having to take them out of their strollers, which must be folded up on Resort buses, then carry the little ones plus the strollers onboard is a joy.

Regarding other choices, Beach Club Resort is the next closest to Magic Kingdom, offering excellent access to Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios. (Both walkable.) Saratoga Springs is lovely and offers convenient access to Downtown Disney, which may be convenient for a great dinner and shopping there. Lastly, we love Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge-Kidani Village for its exotic charm and focus on all things animal and Africa. This resort is, however, much further from Magic Kingdom. You'll notice this when you take a Resort bus to MK; the ride is significantly longer. We found that by staying at Kidani on a short trip, we stay at a park for most of the day and return to our resort only when finished touring for the day. If this works for you on this short trip, then Kidani may be right for this stay.

I hope this helps! Please send more questions about your DVC Membership, the DVC Resorts or any other aspect of your upcoming trip to Walt Disney World. I love to help Members make the most of their membership, and can't wait for you to hear that very first "Welcome Home!"
