Aloha, Gary! Welcome to planDisney and Welcome Home, my DVC neighbor! I'm so glad that you've stopped by with such a great
Disney Vacation Club question. I love being able to chat with a fellow Member!
Don't you just
love being a DVC Member, Gary?! I know I do! Knowing that my family's next magical adventure to incredible destinations, such as
Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa is always right on the horizon is priceless. But with booking windows, Vacation Points and Holding Accounts, sometimes, Membership can be confusing as it is magical. But that's what we at planDisney are here for, and I'm more than happy to make sure none of your Points go to waste!
If you find yourself having to
cancel your DVC reservation at Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa or any DVC Resort, as long as you do it at least 31 days before your arrival, all of your Vacation Points will go back into the Use Year from which they came. Points equal magic, so you definitely will want to cancel before your 31-day mark so that not a single drop goes to waste.
If you have to cancel your DVC Resort reservation from one to 30 days before your check-in date, your Points will then go into a
Holding Account. While you will still be able to use these Points in holding through their expiration date at the end of their Use Year, since they can only be used to book stays within 60 days of check-in, it definitely limits how your Points can be used. My rule of thumb is to always try to cancel or modify
before the 30-day mark, and I always recommend the same rule to my pals, pal.
I hope this was helpful, Gary, and I hope you have the most magical and memorable time in the pixie-dusted paradise of Aulani! Please stop by any time with any planning or DVC questions you may have along the way. You've got a friend in planDisney!
A Hui Hou (Until we meet again),
Mandy
