planning to take our grandchildren (ages, 8 mos, 3,5, 7) to Disney World in Dec. which disney hotel would you recommend? Need something within a reasonable price range. Value vs.moderate vs deluxe? any recommnedations to see best Christmas decorations?

    Hi Regina!

Thank you for sending in your question to the Walt Disney World Moms Panel. There's no easy answer and no right answer in terms of where to stay. Each guest will have their favorite resort in each particular price range.

My favorite Disney Deluxe Resort is the Wilderness Lodge, followed closely by the Beach Club and the Polynesian. With young children, you might consider staying in the Polynesian.  It is located on the Magic Kingdom monorail line making it very easy to visit that theme park and return for a nap in the afternoon, etc. The Magic Kingdom is the favorite theme park of most young children so you might be spending a lot of time there. You also get easy access to Epcot via a monorail transfer at the Transportation and Ticket Center.

My favorite Disney Moderate Resort is Port Orleans Riverside. I love the theming of the resort and it is not too large, unlike a lot of the other Disney Moderate Resorts. I also love its boat service to Downtown Disney which is a lot of fun and relaxing, especially at night.

My favorite Disney Value Resort is currently Pop Century, but I expect it to be replaced in the not so distant future with the new Disney's Art of Animation Resort based on the concept art released for the new resort. Pop Century currently has the best bus service on property and I think it has the best food court of any of the Value Resorts.

There is no doubt that you will have more services and amenities, a larger room, generally better theming, and a better location at a Deluxe Resort over a Moderate Resort and likewise at a Moderate over a Value Resort. If you think you will be spending a lot of time in your hotel room, then go higher, otherwise go with a Value Resort.

With regards to Christmas decorations, the best resorts are the Wilderness Lodge, the Grand Floridian, and the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I hope this helps!  Write back with more questions!
