I am planning to go to WDW at the busiest time of year, July. Unfortunately, a death in the family and other circumstances made it impossible to book in advance. do you think it's still possible to book a resort, with dining plan, a week ahead of my stay?

    Hi Sylvia,

I'm sorry to hear about your loss.  Please accept the sympathies of the Walt Disney World Moms Panel.  Here's hoping that brighter days are ahead for your family.

While it is not guaranteed, I know it is a possibility to book a Disney resort room and dining plan on short notice.  I know this because I did it personally just last month.  Because of some last minute changes in our school's senior trip, I helped a colleague put together a week-long Disney trip only a week before they departed.  We were able to get four rooms together at Disney's Pop Century Resort and the group had a blast.  We had the option to add the Disney Dining Plan, but since we already had our theme park tickets, we weren't eligible to add the Dining Plan.  (Typically, unless you are a DVC member or an Annual Passholder, you must purchase theme park tickets as part of a vacation package to be eligible to add a Disney Dining Plan).  Despite the lateness of making our arrangements, we were even able to use the Disney Magical Express Service from Orlando International Airport.  I was thrilled!

As soon as you know your travel dates, I'd call (407) WDI-SNEY or a Disney-savvy travel agent to book your vacation.  Good luck to you!  I'll keep my fingers crossed that the perfect vacation package will be available for your family when you call.
